Three-dimensional structure of a Nanobody^®(modeled on the VHH with pdb-code 1U0Q, Cambillau et al). The target molecule is recognized by the surface formed by three hypervariable regions located at the top of the molecule (in green, cyan and blue). Hallmarks, amino acid residues that further differentiate a camelid VHH from a human VH, can be located at different positions within the framework regions, and here are coloured red, pink and magenta.

Jim Van heusden, Gimv

Jim Van heusden is Partner Venture Capital at Gimv and focuses on investments in Life Sciences. He currently serves on the board of Ablynx (Belgium), ActoGeniX (Belgium), Pronota (Belgium), Prosensa (NL) and Nereus Pharmaceuticals (USA) and has been a board member at CropDesign (acquired by BASF). Prior to joining Gimv in 2001, he worked as a senior scientist at Janssen Pharmaceutica, a Johnson & Johnson company, where he also served on the research management committee of the collaboration with Rigel Pharmaceuticals (US). Jim Van heusden holds BSc and MSc degrees in chemistry and biochemistry from the University of Antwerp (Belgium) and a PhD in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Maastricht (The Netherlands).
